WHAT WE DO

Electrolysis

Treatment for permanent hair removal

Electrolysis is the application of a tiny current to the base of the hair, which allows the hair to be withdrawn. It is the only proven technique for the permanent removal of unwanted hair from the face and body. All hair types and colours, in all areas of the face and body, can be treated. Both Blend and Diathermy electrolysis are available at Complexion Skin Clinic.

Transgender Electrolysis

In order to support her transgender clients, Maria attended the Sterex Academy's Transgender Specialist Electrolysis Course in February 2011, to gain an insight into people's life journeys as well as to learn specific electrolysis skills. Hair can be removed from sites prior to operation, from donor sites, e.g. on the thigh, and from the face and chest. Maria is an NHS registered provider of Transgender Electrolysis, and also works with The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic. Please see under “Electrolysis” for further information.

Skin Blemish Removal

Blemishes can appear on skin for a number of reasons, such as sun damage, viral infections or due to hereditary causes. Their removal is achieved by the superficial application of a small current to the area and all areas of the face and body can be treated. There are many names for skin blemishes: thread veins, spider naevi, blood spots/Campbell de Morgan spots /cherry haemangiomas, milia, skin tags/ pedunculated fibromas/ papillomas/ fibroepithelial polyps/ acrochordons, seborrhoeic keratoses /seborrhoeic warts/ senile warts/ basal cell papillomas, viral warts /plane / common /plantar/verruca, moles, lentigo/age spots, and poikiloderma.

Moles can be reduced in terms of their visible appearance at the skin surface and electrolysis can provide aesthetically pleasing results. In some cases you may wish or need to consult your GP before deciding whether or not to have your mole treated e.g. when the mole is greater than ½ cm in diameter.

Skin Rejuvenation

The Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling is a highly effective way of causing your body to produce new collagen and elastin, so reducing wrinkles, scars and pigmentation. Tiny punctures are introduced to the skin initiating its own healing mechanism, which leads to skin regeneration. 3-6 sessions are taken every 6 weeks, then 1 session every 6 months. Skin improvements continue to take place for up to 8 months after the last treatment. A consultation is given, anaesthetic is applied to the skin and after 30 minutes, treatment can start. The microscopic wounds close within 5 minutes and the results can last for up to a year. Most of the treatment is entirely comfortable, but you may experience sensitivity in some areas, such as around the lips. After the treatment, the skin is pink, comparable to moderate sunburn. The swelling subsides between 24 hours and 3 days. The skin may feel tight and you may experience some dryness.

Post Treatment

Sunscreen must be used afterwards, and also recommended is the use of Hydrate B5 Serum and Ultimate Recovery.

Home Care

To help maintain skin health, it is recommended that Vitamin C, sunscreen, and Vitamin A are used. The first two are used in the morning, and Vitamin A is used at night. The highly effective Medik8 products are designed to deliver the very best possible results to you.

Facials

Personalised Facials

The facials use the excellent Dermalogica or Medik8 skincare ranges and are customized for you. They include skin analysis, an explanation of the benefits of each step and each product, and skincare advice. A selection is made from the available options: double-cleanse, exfoliation, electrical treatments, deep cleansing desincrustation, aromatherapy massage, serums, masks, hydration, and iontophoresis. Multi-vitamin exfoliating facials help sun damage, skin thickening, uneven pigmentation, and milia, and boost cell renewal. Blackheads are removed and acne skins can be improved. Steam or a galvanic machine may be used to further enhance results. Your skin will look visibly brighter and feel smoother.

Muscle Toning (Non-surgical) Face-Lift

Facial muscles are gently toned, fine lines are softened, and the skin is hydrated, by the application of gentle wands over a collagen gel. The Luxury Muscle Toning Face-lift includes: your regular treatment, with the added benefits of exfoliation, hydrating masque, serum, moisturiser and eye-cream.

Pampering

Eyes

Emphasising the beauty of your eyes is one of the simplest ways to enhance your looks. Your lashes and brows can be tinted, and your brows can be tidied. An allergy test needs to be done at least 48 hours prior to your first tint application at this salon.

Massage

Complexion Skin Clinic offers a thirty-minute back, neck and shoulder massage, using top-quality essential oils. A combination of gentle flowing movements and deep tissue massage can ease tense, knotted muscles, and relax the mind and body.

Male Grooming

Men are welcome at the clinic, and all the treatments listed are available.

Treat Time

Treat Time is a special treat for yourself or for someone you know. This one and a half hour pampering session includes: a brightening facial (double cleanse under steam, exfoliation to remove dull skin cells, massage with essential oils, mask, moisturiser,  eye cream), a brow tidy, and a relaxing back, neck and shoulder massage.
