FAQs

Electrolysis for permanent hair removal

How long is an appointment?

The first session consists of a 15 minute consultation to discuss how electrolysis works. Questions will be asked about any medical conditions etc. and photographs of the hair growth will be taken. This will usually be followed by a short taster session. Allow 45 minutes for your first session.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on how many hairs you have to remove. One person may have twenty, and another may have three hundred. It also depends on how strong the hairs are, and on other factors individual to you.

How often is it recommended that I should I have a treatment?

This depends on how quickly any regrowth comes through, and if all hairs can be removed at every treatment. Typically, a client may have a monthly treatment, but some may need only to come in every three months, while others choose to visit twice weekly. Every treatment you have will contribute to making the hairs lighter in colour, finer in texture and slower growing.

How much will it cost?

The consultation is usually free of charge, and is followed by a short treatment, which is paid for according to the length of time taken. Homecare lotion is advised. The total cost depends largely on the number of hairs that need removing. Please  see the price list, as a guide.

What does electrolysis feel like?

The sensation varies between barely perceptible and a heat sensation. Although most clients do not need it, some clients choose to apply a topical anaesthetic, available from a pharmacy, around 30 minutes before treatment.

What need I do before and after treatment?

When possible, the skin should be free of make-up, clean, and the hair should be about 2-3mm long. Areas of sunburn, cold sores etc. cannot be treated. Afterwards, a little pinkness and localised swelling may be present. This usually calms down in between 15 minutes and an hour. Occasionally it can take longer. Apply the soothing aftercare lotion, as advised, and avoid poor hygiene and skin irritants.

Blemish Removal

How long is an appointment?

The first session consists of a 15 minute consultation. Questions will be asked about any medical conditions etc. and photographs of the blemish will be taken. This will be followed by treatment. Please allow 45 minutes for your first session.

How many treatments will I need?

Sessions are usually 20-30 minutes long, but can take as little as 5 minutes. Typically, 1-3 treatments are taken at 3-6 weekly intervals.

What does treatment feel like?

It is usually a brief heat sensation.

How long will it take to heal?

Following thread vein removal, pin dot crusts may be present for 4-10 days. Following the removal/reduction of seborrhoeic keratoses, some skin tags, and moles, a crust will form, taking 4-14 days to drop off. The area may be initially pink, slowly fading toward your normal skin tone (pigmented moles may be a lighter shade).

Are moles removed using electrolysis?

Electrolysis reduces the size of the mole above skin level, so that where it is considered physically or visually prominent, its impact is reduced; the portion of the mole that is under the skin surface remains. When booking your appointment you will be asked for information about your mole(s).

What do I need to do before and after treatment?

Where possible, the skin should be free of make-up and clean. Areas of sunburn, cold sores, etc. cannot be treated. The area around the treated blemish may be pink. Localised swelling is sometimes present. These usually calm down in between 15 minutes and an hour. Apply the soothing aftercare lotion, as advised, and avoid poor hygiene and skin irritants.

Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

How long is an appointment?

The first session consists of a 20 minute consultation, 40 minutes of relaxation with the anaesthetic applied, and 20 minutes for the treatment. Questions will be asked about any medical conditions etc. and photographs will be taken.

How many treatments will I need?

A course of three or six treatments is taken at approximately 3 week intervals. The effects start being visible at about week twelve, and continue improving for up to a year. Maintenance treatments can be taken every 8 to 12 weeks.

What need I do before and after treatment?

Ideally, the skin should be free of make-up and clean. Areas of sunburn, cold sores, etc. cannot be treated. Post-treatment, the skin will look pink (which will calm within 24 hours) and soothing aftercare lotion will be applied.
